Short answer

A cafeteria POS has to be fast and handle prepaid accounts. EvronDesk's cafeteria mode charges student or staff accounts by ID, shows allergen flags at the till, and keeps the lunch line moving with simple, large item buttons.

Built for the lunch rush

Put the day's menu on one screen with big buttons. Most transactions are two or three items and one payment, so the cashier never leaves the first screen. Run two or three tills on the same menu at peak.

Prepaid accounts by ID

Students and staff pay from a prepaid account. At the till the cashier chooses Student account as the payment and enters the ID number as the reference, so every charge is traceable to a person. For prepaid balances, use store credit on the student's or staff member's guest profile.

Allergens at the till

Tag items with allergens and dietary labels (contains nuts, gluten-free, halal, vegetarian). Add allergy notes to an account so the cashier sees them when it's used.

Hospitals and workplace canteens

Staff canteens often subsidise meals or bill departments monthly. Use house accounts for departments, store credit for prepaid staff, and normal card and cash for visitors. Reports split sales by payment type for easy recharging.

Frequently asked questions

How do prepaid student accounts work?

At the till, the cashier picks Student account as the payment type and enters the student or staff ID as the reference. Prepaid balances can be held as store credit on each person's guest profile, and reports show account payments separately.

Can the POS warn about allergies?

Yes. Items carry allergen and diet tags, and guest profiles can hold allergy notes that show when the account is used.

Can a hospital cafeteria use EvronDesk?

Yes. It suits staff and visitor cafeterias, with staff accounts, card and cash payments, and reports by period.
